This morning the t.v crew from Tagata Pasifica came into our class to film for there next show about budjeting for Christmas and what Christmas means to us and how we celebrate it.

When they first walked in they introduced them self's the interviewers name was Okesene, I forgot the sound and camera mans name.

They first started asking questions about what Christmas means to them, he asked Vaha and Tule that question they gave him great and clear anwsers.

Then he came over to Junior H, Ngaina, Vicky and I. He asked what we were doing and ngaina described what and how we made our decorations, he was very happy with the awnser.

When they got everything they needed they left with a posative responce, If you want to watch it, it will be on Thurday Night at 11:00 PM or Sunday Morning at 7:30 AM.

Netbook Reflection.....

This is the first year that we have had our netbooks, it has been a big change since last year when we had our pencils and books to write in. We only started taking our netbooks home last term in week 4, but we only got our internet passwords not so long ago.

What I like about having a netbook is that it is easyer to find infomation and comunacate with others and its easyer to share my work with my teacher.

What I dislike about having a netbook is that my handwriting is messy because I am so used to typing, I also dilike that sometimes the internet disconnects.

Water Games at Willow Park Camp.

It was the some end of term three and some of the students that particapated in a after schol club called "Riverside" got to go on a camp. The camp was held at willow park from Monday the 10th to Friday 14th. About 80 of us went and 2 year 8 boys came from Mr Burts Church and Ms Vaa'fusuanga's Neice and Nephew came too.

We had allot of activiteys my favourite one was the water games even thoe I got really wet. we got to play 4 games my team (The Jerkers) first played this game when we had to wrape a person from our team up in toliet paper the way you could win that game was having the most toilet paper left on the "mummy" my team one this game but it was very close.

The Second activity was when we had to catch water balloons with out hands it looked easy but it was qiet diffiecalt but we one that game too against the boys at first they were in the lead by 2 then we just kept catching them and the final score was 2-3 it was very close.

The other actvity was filling up a pipe with water but it had a twist there where little holes in the pipe that we had to block with our bodys and when we new that we reached the top of the pipe a ping pong ball would flote out, we didnt get to know if we won that game but I think it was a draw against the boys team all stars.

It was the final game and they saved th best for last one of my team mates said to me. This game invovled getting a sponge sucking up the water with it and running it to the end and rinsing it out and in the other bucket then runing it back adn giving it to the next person in line. The prize was to get to tip all the water over the other team luckly my team one so we got to tip it all over Kalim's Team, we had time for another round and my team lost this time and since I got Kalim really wet he got me really wet too, so that game was a draw.

Over all I loved every second of camp it was amazing I think it is the best camp I have been on so far.

Creative Logical Thinking

This morning our class did a activity where you had to think a little differently so we could solve our problem. We got five objects to solve the problem our objects were Bowl, Box, Leaf, Hammer and a chair and our problem was You are out at sea and your boat started to leak what would you do?

Our group decided to break the chair with the hammer and get the nails out of the chair, and use the hammer to nail the wood from the chair in to where the hole is.

There were only two out of eight groups that successfully that was Julie's group and My group,

the people that were in my group was Awhina and David.

That task was challenging at first but when we thought of our idea of how we were going to solve it.

The Last Week Or So.

For the last week Ms Tito has been taking the percussionist practise.
Percussionist is a African tribal dance all four classes had a different beat to learn. The people that are not in percussionest in room 22 had to go to another senior class untill they finished. The class that I had to go in was room 21 with Vaha.
When ever we would walk past when they would be practising you could hear four different beats, but they all matches it sounded cool.

For the past 8 weeks we had a student teacher in our class. Ms Richards was learning to be a teacher so she came to our class to experience what it would be like to be a teacher of a year 7 & 8 class. She came from the university of Waikato. Last Friday was her last day with us so she made some dumplings and Chinese food from her culture.

Black out day

Today is Friday and our school is having a day to support the All Blacks we called this fun day "Black out day" our school had to wear black clothes to school but I didn't because it would of been to hot on this warm day, I just wore my normal uniform.

Last week our year 8 boys went to a 7's rugby tournament called "Aims Games." It was held in Tauranga for one week. The boys came back the New Zealand Rugby 7's champions.

When they were down there the New Zealand 7’s was giving them some good advice . The best piece of advice was, if you want to win tournaments if to all ways be on defence.

That night I found out that the boys had taken out the tournament I was extremely happy for the boys, it is a great achievement, they made our school very proud.

Why is learning about people in the global community important?

I think it is important because we need to have good relationships with other countries. We can trade and exchange with them. World wide peace means to me not having wars, I think it is good to learn other languages of other countries because we can travel the world and know what they are saying and we can speak back to them, we can also speak to them if they are having trouble with something like maybe a product that we are selling and they don’t understand English. We can also learn other countries customs so we don’t offend them and start wars.

Yesterday room 22 had to do this test, It was called Multiple Intelligence we did it because Ms Tito wanted to know all of our strengths and things we needed to work on. A multiple Intelligence is a test to see what is our strengths in from the smarts my strengths are:

A new sport. (Badminton)

Last week for the first time in room 22 we went to a little session with a lady named Laureen, she was from Auckland Badminton Club, she was a couch I knew that because she was wearing a Badminton Couch Jacket.

The first thing she was teaching us to do was to have control over the Shuttle ( the white thing used in badminton) and have control over the racket, she told us to don’t look down because it would lose our concentration, so I looked down and I lost my concentration, but it took a while of getting used to hitting it up and down gently.

My favourite activity was the 2ND because you had to hit the shuttle with your racket and your with you partner my partner was Lesley, She had to hold the cone and gently pass me the shuttle and I had to hit it gently and Lesley had to try and catch it in the cone that we got given to each partnership.

It was really fun Badminton because it was really different playing a new sport that I had never tried before.

We missed out on a immersion Assembly because we had to go to Technology so after morning tea we had a Yr 7 & 8 assembly and the teachers told us our new topic for the term it is 'Keep our eye on the ball' its related to the Rugby World Cup.

Design Process Writing.

Just a couple of weeks ago Ms Tito gave us a interesting task to identify a need or a problem our problem was that know one respected our place (the street) so our class said that we needed some furniture.

Once we found a need, we needed to research for a idea Teari and I wanted to look for shelving we found a really cool idea but then we had to make it original we also had to research attributes. The attributes our class found was Safe? Practical? Creative/Innovative.

After we researched the next step was to Generate Ideas Teari and I had allot of great idea’s but they where not that creative.

Our group had to discover some solution's to fix our problem witch was our shelf was not creative so we looked around our class and got inspired from the literacy wall with the ‘A+’ we had to get the dimensions for our shelf to so we could make our prototype.

In our design I think we could be better by us managing our time better and stay on task. I think next time we get given a project like this I have to manage my time better and stay on task so our project I can strive to succeed.

Science Roadshow

Last week on Thursday the year 7 & 8 students at Pt England School, had to pay $7 to go to the science roadshow at Tamaki College. We all walked down class by class because we had different times to the roadshow because it is apart of our topic for the term. ( bigger, better, stronger and faster).

Before we left Ms Tito put us in to groups of 4 to 6 I was in a group of 4 others Vaha, Ilalio, Rose and Micheal. Vaha was the leader of the group. Ms T gave us a work sheet per each group and she gave some groups a camera to take videos or pictures, I was given a flip camera to get some videos of the exhibit that our was looking at but only Vaha and I did the work and all the rest of the group went and played on the hands on exhibits.

The exhibit the me and Vaha where looking at was Heat. It was good to learn about heat because it showed us what material out of Metal, Foam and sheep sheep Skin would contain the most heat in your house we had to feel the materials the metal one was cold the foam was a bit warmer but the sheep skin one was the warmest.

Before the show ended me and Vaha had aproxxmitly 10 minutes to go and look at the other exhibits we looked at sound. I played on the Theromen and the sound organ. Out of the two sounds instruments that I looked at my favourite one was the sound organ, to work it I had to put my hands in the gap and when it scened a movement it would play the tune and the light would come on.

Personally to me the Science Road show was a great experience, but it was a bit boring because my group left Vaha and I to do all the work so I did’nt get to see much of the roadshow. But with the little things I got to look at and learn about I rate the roadshow 8.5 out of 10.

Fabulous Felt.....

In reading Huia was reading this story in a journal called Fabulous Felt. The story was about kids that made some things with fleece (sheep skin). They died it, dryed it and made it into Felt then made some Christmas presents out of the fleece that they made into felt.

Here are the steps:

1)You have to shear the sheep to get the fleece.

2)Take it to the local fleece cleaner to get the Greece and dirt of the fleece.

3)If you don't wont it white get some Onion skins, beetroots, orange peels, lemon peels, Teabags, coffee grounds,spices and all sorts of leaves, berries and barks. Cook all of these ingredients to make some natural dyes.

4)Dye your fleece the colour you wont.

5)Hang up your dyed fleece to dry for about an 1hour and stir it from time to time.

6)Then felt it gently pull the fleece into three strips, then lay it on top of a ice cream container lid spread the next four strips for the next layer.

7)when the felt dry's you can make some cool finger puppets, purses, signs and a baby mobile.

In Room 22 this term we are learning about Geometry. Geometry is the study of size, shape and position of 2-d shapes and 3-d figures.

We learnt how to draw perfect circles with the compasses. we also made our own tangrams. It was really fun because it was a new challenge.

I hope all the other maths tat we are going to learn about is as fun as geometry.

Taonga Time.....

Every Friday the year 7& 8 have a special time called Taonga Time. Taonga means treasure in maori. We have it only for 1 hour and a half a week. When we are at Taonga time the teacher is sharing there own passion with us. The passion my teacher shares with my group is ICT.

The group that I am in is Mrs Telea’s she has a passion of ICT. She is teaching us how to use imovie 11 probably. Mrs Telea has taught us is how to keep your audience interested by changing the camera angles, to take off the volume on our movies we are in the process of making.

I cant wait till Friday because it is fun and interesting to learn about imovie 11 and learning how to use it properly. It is going to be a great Friday middle block for Vaha and Me.

I was pleased with my art because I’m not that good at art and I got a mark 7 out of 12 that is the highest I have ever got in art, because I don’t really like art but now I like it a little bit.

I this term I need to improve on my homework and my hand writing because Ms Tito makes me rewrite my homework and it’s boring rewriting it!

I think I need to work harder in all of my subjects so when our July report gets given I can get a excellent report and not get in trouble from my parents.

Cinellids is also known as a ladybug and ladybirds.

These types of bugs live in many parts of the world such as: United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, India, Malta and parts of some parts of Canada.

These bugs are unique because you can find them in lots of different colours such as red, blue, Orange, Yellow and sometimes you will be able to identify black dots on the lady bugs.

The size of a lady bug is 1 mm to 10 mm (0.04 to 0.4 inches).

Some of this bugs features is that it has antennae which means two antennas. The ladybugs also have wings and a lot of other body features.

Our trip to Mairangi Bay

It was a early night for me on Thursday night because we had a trip to Mairangi Bay the next day to teach us about Surviving in the water.

The things that we where going to learn is how to identafie a rip and if you get into pulled in to a rip what to do If you get in a rip try and stand up and swim to the waves and stay calm.

After when we had learnt about identafiing a rip both classes (room 19 and room 20) went out and played on the beach some games with the life gaurds the first game we was Octapuss then tag bullrush and one of our helpers tackled Casey luckily he did not get hurt, but then Racheal got triped up by Feki then him and Etta went tumbling on her foot and and squashed it so she had to go and get the ice pack for her ankle.

Then we did some water activtiys the boys did boggy boarding first and the girls went swimming with the red tubes. When 15 minutes went past the boys and girls swoped over then when that half hour finished we had to get changed and pack up to come back to school. As we where leaving the sun came out foe the first time all day.

“Wooohoo” They have arrived and we are using them.
Yesterday the Year 7s at Pt England School where very exited because our netbooks had arrived and we were putting our user details in them.

The reason why we got our netbooks early is because we are the PILOTS for the Manakalani cluster of 7 schools. It is like we are the guinea pigs as the Years 7s being the pilots for testing them and writing every thing down about our comments problems and our solutions so then we send our infomation about our netbooks to Mrs Burt via email.

We still have to wait to take our netbooks home because now that we have them we are only trialing them but next year when school starts again we will be able to take them home just like all other schools from year 5 and up to year 13.
"Having the netbooks will change our way of learning and thinking and looking at things from a different perspective" says Gabrielle.

The Lemon Tree Borer is a long horn beetle, the resion why this paticuler beetle is called THE LEMON TREE BORER is because the lemon tree is its favourite tree to lay its eggs. When the eggs hatch white larve stays on the leaves and then the wasps eat the larve.

At graphics we learn how to do many things with our hands and the computers. While Miss Ferguson had her seconed
year 7 class ever for Point England School. We learnt about all kinds of different mechanism the waving one popping out one.
Some times when the computers would not work and Miss Ferguson fixed it she would jump up and down all around the room and the whole class would always laugh at her. She would say to all of us if we put it up on our blogs she will be ashamed so much she would have to scream and do it even more shhhhh don't tell her.

My Aunty Sharron

My Aunty is one of the best auntys some one could ever have she is so genours she has got 20 to 30 grand kids and 3 of them live with her with there parents she also has two dogs Tui and Puppy they are labradors. My aunty also is a foster mum for kids in sips when know family cant handle them or wont them. She voulnters at the Glen Iness Salvation Army shop, my aunty used to work as a nurse like in a hosiptal but gave it up when her youngst dauter gave birth to her son. Now she looks after one of her grandkids Jaden (the little boy in the left photo).

This morning Ms T said to us to choose a partnerand a multiple intelligences blooms taxonomy. Together Gabrielle and I created a board game using the higher level of thinking Creating, working on Visual /Spatial intelligences. To creat this board game we used Hyper Studio 5. The time that we were given was 2 hours and 50 minsthis is what Gabrielle and I came up with. We had fun with this challange.

The Twilight Saga.

Twilight is a movie about Vampires and Wolfs. It is set in America. Twilight has 4 movies Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse,Breaking Dawn. In New Zealand Breaking Dawn is still yet to be released in the movies and Eclipse is now in the movies. The other 2 are on DVD and Blue ray.

Here is some of the twilight cast Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, Billy Burke as Bella's dad, Peter Facinelli as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, Esme Cullen. They are the vampires.

Jacob Black as Taylor Lautner. Those are the only wolfs I know the names of.

Aucklands Volcanic Field

The Auckland Volcanic Field is made up of 50 basalt volcano. Most of the volcanoes in Auckland have only erupted once which means they are monogeneric volcanism.

Rangitoto has erupted a few times so that means Rangitoto is polygenetic volcanism.

Rangitoto is the youngest and largest volcano in Auckland. It takes up 50% of the Auckland Volcanic field. That volcano erupted about 600 to 800 years ago. It is 259 meters high.

Maori believe that Rangitoto gaurds the Waitamata harbour. When Rangitoto erupted out of the sea the Moari living closley on Motutapu Island must of thought it was the end of the world.

Rangitoto's name means Bloody Sky, it has 7 known lava caves and its cone is Scoria igneos rock. Rangitoto is a intraplate which means, in the middle of a techtonic plate it also means a hot spot for volcanic activity.

To me Rangitoto is an amazing volcano. But I hope it never erupts while im living in Auckland, all that ash cloud and lava it scares me just thinking about it.

This morning we had to do a task for writing to organiser information report.

We had to do this because Ms Tito says that our writing is random.

A disaster is an event that causes destruction, pain and suffering. Disaster's can be natural or man made.

Natural disasters can be caused by extreme weather events, climatic conditions or changes in the earths crust. Natural disasters include cyclones, tornadoes, floods, droughts, bush fires, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Man made disasters are usually the result of accidents, disease or war. They range from catastrophic evens like major wars and nuclear accidents which destroy huge amounts of the the environment and kill many people, to everyday occurrences like road accidents and crime.

Emergency services and charities rush to help when a disaster happens.

Did you know that there are three parts of the earth? The center is called the Core, the middle part is called the Mantle and the the last part of the earths layers is the crust. When volcanoes erupts it means that the mantle has put to much pressure is on the crust then the volcanos erupts.

Hannah Montana is my favorite show on Disney Channel. It is all about this girl named Miley Stewart and she has the best of both worlds. She has many songs my favorite of her songs is If We Were A Movie.

Hannah Montana has to keep a secret away from here friends Lily and Oliver they are the best friends and they all go to Sea View high in California.

She is so talent her dad is Billy Ray Cyrus and she oringaly lived in Tennessee.

When I first saw the movie I went wow that is such a great movie I was I love with the movie I got the DVD for Christmas and I watched it over and over again eventually I got over that movie my mum was so happy. The resion why I love Hannah Montana because she is a great role model for young kids like me. My favourite part of Hannah Montana is when Miley says "Sweet Nibblets"and when it the show is on my family knows not to disturb me or I will annoy them when the show that they like to watch.
